Great hint - works well. But, if you're going to convert a presentation into PowerPoint at some point, the Graffle graphics don't convert well (in general, PDF graphics in Keynote don't convert well when they're rasterized into PowerPoint).
To get around this, I usually export each OmniGraffle page/graphic as a high-res TIFF or PNG (I use 288 dpi). Then I 'place' that into the Keynote presentation. It looks just as good as Keynote when saving the presentation in PPT format.

That would actually be ppi (pixels per inch) and not dpi (dots per inch), which is the way it would be printed using half tone screening. I'm aware this is the common terminology though.
Also 300 ppi is a much better resolution to use, especially if you are going to print something, since it divides well to 150 line screen (dpi) evenly.

This is a handy tip. It also works with Illustrator. Methinks that the reason it doesn't work with Word is because of how Word works with PDFs (uh, poorly, at least with the v.X version). Is quickbooks 2016 for mac compatible with mojave. I would note, however, that one must drag the Preview title bar icon onto an already open TextEdit document for this to work- if you drag it onto the TextEdit icon in the Dock and have a new document open, you just get a text document of 'gibberish'.

Can you not create a pdf from word by pressing Apple+Shift+4 and dragging a selection over the graphic/page you want?

Omnigraffle For Mac
Unless I'm mistaken, a PDF so created will consist of a low-resolution bitmap. Pes for mac os x.

This tip concerns the importation of vector PDF images from OmniGraffle into TextEdit (or Illustrator- where, by the way, you can tweak the Graffle image by layer). Word won't import the image properly.
To make a PDF from a Word document (or any other document, for that matter), simply select Print, then Print as PDF.

This may qualify as a stand-alone hint. As many have, I too have been frustrated by Word's inability to properly deal with importing vector art. As the current hint indicates, you can use Preview to get a vector PDF from OmniGraffle that can be imported into TextEdit or Illustrator, but not Word. However, I tried exporting from OmniGraffle as an HTML image map (for test purposes at 300dpi as a TIFF- it makes for a big file, might try other settings), and lo and behold, the image in Word looked great on the screen and also printed beautifully! I also brought in Illustrator PDFs to Word via this option in OmniGraffle- worked great!
